1- The Edco Natural Gas Liquefaction Plant was commissioned in 2005.
2- The lowest possible cost at that time is 2 billion dollars.
3- The plant is considered the largest project for liquefying natural gas in Egypt, as it includes two units for liquefying natural gas with a capacity of 4.1 million tons per year of gas per unit.
4- Its construction value is now 5 times its cost, equivalent to 10 billion dollars.
5- The last installment of the project construction loan was paid in July 2017.
6- Edco's natural gas liquefaction plant is a partnership between the General Petroleum Corporation (12%), the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) 12%, British Gas Company, which was acquired by Shell (35.5%), the Malaysian Petronas Company (35.5%), and Engy French "ex-Jazz de France" 5%.
7- The investment cost of the project was funded by 42 international banks in addition to the European Investment Bank
8- The project's first line was put into operation in May 2005 and the first shipment of it was exported to France, and the second line was operational in September of the same year, and it was exported to the United States of America.
